Alexandria is the first moon from Regina and a strange admixture of Old West and peudo-classical Greek from Earth-that-was and modern industry. Not cursed, like Regina, with Bowden's Malady, the moon is a much pleasanter place to live. Rich soil in the outlands are conducive to agriculture and ranching. Several broad rivers make bringing produce and livestock to the cities much easier for farmers dependent on four-legged horsepower. Strictly maintained pollution laws keep the rivers and air clean. Small modern industries can be found clustered near the main towns and cities. It is also a jumping off point for ships corona-mining the sun, Georgia, due to it's relative closeness to the proto-star.

History

One of the first Governors of Alexandria was a scholar and ancient history buff named Custer J. Davaleon. As an admirer of Alexander the Great, the name of the moon took his fancy and he named the present capital Pellia, after Alexander's birthplace. He gave the port a Grecian flavor as well as some of the public buildings and areas, spending most of his own fortune and over-taxing the locals. He was assassinated by an angry tax-payer at the age of 49.

The broad and deep Washington River, on who's banks the city is situated, was never successfully renamed in spite of his efforts. It was named for a much loved head terraforming scientist, Anthony R. Washington, in the moon's early years. Today large barges bring much of the best of the moon's produce to Pellia from the hinterlands to be shipped to the markets of the 'Verse.
