Bernadette was the third planet to be terraformed and settled on, coming after Londinium and Sihnon. The only remaining ship that carried those who made the Exodus is located in the capital city of New Paris. This ship, named the Prometheus, now stands as a monument to the courage of those who made that voyage. The ship itself is at least five times as large as an Alliance cruiser, and inside it is now a museum which contains information about the journey and information on the culture and history of Earth-That-Was.
There is a presence of underground slave trade on Bernadette. Settlers who come from other planets on the Core, preparing to make a new life on the Rim, are sometimes captured and sent off to work on terraforming stations. The slave traders, however, leave locals alone. Common thought is that no one will miss the settlers.
Bernadette is also home to a myriad of religious groups and churches as well as many fringe cults and fanatical devotees. There is also a restricted landing zone here. However, those claiming to be settlers or who have a group of children on a field trip to see the ark are usually welcomed.
