Paquin is known as the "gypsy planet." It is home to the largest stable population of Romani in the 'verse, as well as the Romany Congress and the Council of Elders. There are carnivals, sideshows, casinos and theaters in abundance here. The unique atmosphere of Paquin produces some of the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets to be found anywhere. The skies fill with colors ranging from purple to blue to red to orange. These sunsets provide a stunning backdrop for the grand opera house, which is set on a shore overlooking a large ocean.

The opera house brought in theater lovers from all around the 'verse, which inspired others to take advantage of this new-found trade. More theaters were built, featuring all manner of entertainment from Noh to experimental dance. Many new plays debut here, and those that become popular travel to the Core where they play for the elite. There are also numerous art galleries, museums and cathedrals here. Paquin is home to the oldest Ferris wheel in the 'verse as well as the largest carousel. The world is considered the playground of the rich and famous as well as the regular person. It rivals Sihnon in terms of culture and it has become the artistic center of the Border Worlds.

Paquin also has a darker side. The presence of money has brought swindlers from all over the 'verse to try their luck. Among the carnivals and sideshows that dot the world, providing good honest entertainment for locals and visitors, there are those people who take advantage of their patrons or use the bright lights as a cover for darker activities.

Paquin City is on the southern hemisphere and so the seasons are reversed. It has been called the Down Under of the Verse.
