Trans-U Sun Miner and Cargo Ship

Ship's History

Once a luxury passenger liner able to carry a hundred passengers as well as crew, the ship has been stripped of passenger cabins and a partial deck leaving her room to deal with large amounts of cargo and the power to handle the dangerous business of corona mining.

When originally purchased by the present owner, the ship appeared to be a neglected rust bucket but was basically sound. With much time in the shipyards and much work by her own engineers and crew she has been upgraded, systems repaired or replaced, and has become the strange mix of hardnosed practicality and luxury that are the keynote of sucessful ships of the corona miners. "Live good while you can because a star is unforgiving of mistakes."

Description

The ship is huge at 263 feet long and 80 feet high with a wingspan of 163 feet. She is painted with a highly reflective, mirror-like coating and has been rigged for corona skimming for mining purposes. The name, SHENJING, and ID is done in a highly reflective coating as well with a slight shading to it, barely showing up in comparison. In the sunlight or other bright lighting, the ship is blinding and not always a favorite in port because of this.

The hold is cavernous because of the removal of all the passenger cabins from her past life as a luxury liner. The upper two decks, now reserved for the crew are done in luxurious style with exercise areas, sauna, hot tub, and all the little extras that make life aboard her special between dives into the sun to mine the mineral and chemical rich corona.
