Ownership History

The Chaos Theory has been retired from the grid.

History

Commissioned on Boros, the ship was bought new by Garren Harold for use as a cargo transport for his business, Harold Water Inc., based at the shipyard on Newhall where it was used and not cared for. Garren, the CEO of the company, used it primarily for his smuggling operation.

Changes of Ownership

Kelley Kincaid

Not long after the disbanding of the Apollo, Sujiko and Matty took a shuttle to Newhall. Here, they met with Garren Harold and, using knowledge of Mr. Harold's smuggling operation, blackmailed him out of his ship (Log). However, neither Sujiko nor Matty had any desire to command, so the opportunity was passed on to their good friend, Kelley Kincaid, who recommissioned the ship under the name Salvation II.

Sujiko Tokari

Only two months after receiving his command, however, Kelley took ill, and temporary command was passed on to Sujiko Tokari. Eventually, he and the XO, Raja, moved to the Alexander Wellness Clinic on Persephone where Kelley's condition remains unchanged. The ship then officially changed ownership to Sujiko, where the ship became the Chaos Theory.

Ashlyn Tanner

In December of 2521, Sujiko Tokari stepped down as captain to pursue a career in private security consultation, leaving Ashlyn Tanner, formerly the ship's Chief Engineer, in command of the Chaos Theory.

Madison Radcliffe

June, 2522 saw yet another change of ownership as Ashlyn Tanner left the ship with no warning, leaving Madison Radcliffe in charge of the Chaos Theory.

Unknown

In August, 2522 the Chaos Theory met with a disastrous engine failure on a cargo run between Persephone and Whitefall, leaving the ship stranded in space while the crew shuttled back to Persephone for new parts. Upon returning to the coordinates, the Chaos Theory was no longer there and is presumed stolen by unknown thieves.

Major Events

These are small summaries of relevant points of history affecting the Chaos Theory and her Crew.

Haven

Sujiko received a wave from captain Aradia Brooks of the Grace O'Malley, a good friend of his from their time served aboard the Apollo, stating that the Grace had crash landed on Haven. Responding to help, the Theory took off for Haven. It was a routine assistance mission that went according to plan. The Chaos Theory brought parts, and Sujiko assisted the Grace's engineering crew with repairs. The official report states that the Grace had clearance to land, and was taken offline by EMP bursts which had stopped by the time the Chaos Theory arrived.

Logs

  • Reward: One HK MP-7 and One L85A2 IW, picked from a body.

HWI Tanker

Alexander, an old friend of Sujiko's, showed up on Greenleaf with a shuttle he'd stolen from Harold Water Inc. With the shuttle, he also carried information that a tanker had crashed and been abandoned on a small moon. A small amount of detective work would reveal that the moon was in fact in orbit around that very planet. Apart from a near crash landing by their drunken pilot, Seamus, the salvage operation went smoothly and the crew managed to get away with the entire tanker and shipment of water. (Log)

They immediately flew to Ezra. Having cotacted a doctor by the name of Murphy, the crew was to deliver the shipment, donate the water to the residents of the dry planet, and auction the ship to the highest bidder. The deal went south, however, when his contact turned out to be an agent of Garren Harold, who sought revenge for the blackmail that cost him the Chaos Theory. Carl Birch, a security officer on the Theory at the time, was killed in the ambush, but the captain's life was saved by Savannha Horizon, who it turns out had been stowing away aboard the Chaos Theory. (Log)

  • Reward: 2000 dollars in a duffel bag picked off of Dr. Murphy, payment for the tanker.

Garren Harold

An employment advertisement for the Chaos Theory.

During a flight to the Rim, the Chaos Theory is ambushed by a heavily armed Shark Corvette, owned by Garren Harold. They attempt to escape, but the Shark is too fast and heavily armed, and the Theory is boarded. (Log)

Boarding the ship is none other than Garren Harold himself, along with a few of his gunhands. Words are exchanged, and in a surprising turn of events, it turns that Alexander, in order to sell out to the highest bidder, had been reporting the Chaos Theory's movements to Garren Harold. However, having worked himself into a hole, he finds himself alone in a third side of the conflict and attempts to take Ashlyn hostage. Sujiko won't stand for this, though, and take a shot at Alex that proves fatal. Both sides open fire at each other, but the crew of the Chaos Theory emerges victorious. (Log)

  • No reward

Soyuz Mining

After several week of Matty having no communication from her family at Soyuz Mining Settlement, the crew headed out to St. Albans to check on things, and they were certainly not OK. The place appeared abandoned at first sight, but it turned out that a dozen or so members of the Russian Mafia had taken the entire settlement (a hundred people or so) hostage.

Part of the crew (Sujiko, Matty, Ashlyn, Savannha and Morris) landed themselves in a firefight. Ashlyn accidentally shot Matty (who was luckily wearing a flak jacket) just before she herself was shot and badly injured.

Off-camera: The Chaos crew evacuated the settlement and helped them set up a new mine far away from the old location.

Party Crashers

While attending the wedding of Naomi, Delilah's cousin, back on Lilac, the town and crew was attacked by reavers. The crew made it out alive, but not uninjured. Matty took a blast from a reaver cannon, Sujiko was injured saving Ashlyn from a reaver, and Delilah was badly injured when a second reaver ship, once named the Ouranos, crashed into the first and dropped a wing on the poor cook, crushing her legs and giving her a concussion that left her without memory of the previous month. While the crew escaped without casualties, the town was not so lucky. Rebecca, Delilah's mother, and a great number of townfolk were killed in the raid, and many more were injured.

With no medical facilities on Lilac, the crew loaded as many of the wounded as they could into the cargo bay, and made for Ariel. During the flight, Matty went into cardiac arrest, and Delilah began to aspirate. But the efforts of Lucinda Delray kept the two alive while the ship made a hasty crash landing in the spaceport.

Logs

Blood Runs Thicker

James Tanner, Ashlyn's brother stoped by the Theory not long after the crew's arrival on Ariel, though it soon became clear that he was not there solely for moral support. James had learned that there was a price on his head when a hitman attempted to kill him at his home. Ashlyn and Matty managed to come up with a solid idea of who might be behind the hit, a noble on Santo named Charles Ryans who James and Matty had found out was running slaves during the Unification War. Now running for governor, he was trying to eliminate anyone who knew about his profession. Shortly thereafter, concerns that trouble might be visited on innocent members of the crew were realized when hitmen kidnapped Ashlyn on Persephone. The crew was able to rescue her, though with the hit still in place, There's no reason to think that the danger is over.

Logs

St. Albans is Bad Luck

The crew of the Theory headed out to St. Albans after picking up Fortesque Longfellow and Loenie. It proved less of a quick taxi ride and more of a harrowing missadventure, however, when the ship's hired gun, Morris, turned on the crew, setting an explosive in the engine room to disable the ship while in orbit around the planet. James was killed and the engine damaged in the ensuing blast. Torres captured Morris trying to make an escape in one of the Theory's shuttles while Matrix repaired the damage enough to get the ship moving again, Bishop landing the Theory safely in the mining settlement. Morris took his own life upon his capture, and his mysterious compatriots backed off the Theory's tail when the ship approached civilization.
