Overview

How so young a writer could have captured so rich a cross section of humanity with so rare a combination of compassion and malevolence is a mystery - one as unfathomable as the mystery and magic of art itself. Nevertheless, Shiva Hunter continues after her first novel, The Man in Black, was published to extraordinary critical acclaim in 2519. The famous author now freelances from place to place, discovering life firsthand and in her wake grows the stature of an amazing literary performance for she can never truly leave her calling in life.

The adventures Shiva Hunter lives now will undoubtedly become the stories she weaves in the future both near and far.

Description

Appearance

A young woman of mixed descent, she's made of averages when it comes to height and weight, only standing about five-foot-nine and weighing about a hundred thirty or forty pounds. Her build is lean and slender, nothing extreme or out of the ordinary. For a black woman she has a light brown skin tone with no visible blemishes and her dark brown hair reaches down to the middle of her back and currently is worn for simplistic volume. What light makeup she wears is practical and only used to add blush to her cheeks and brown lips, and highlight her almond-shaped eyes and bright blue irises. She has a youthful countenance and gentle laugh lines mark her age in the mid twenties. Her earlobes are pierced. When she speaks, her words are soft but confident and Core accented.

Personality

Shiva is an extrovert to an over-the-top, exotic degree. She's down to earth and equally eccentric. She is compassionate and when in doubt she will do what she thinks is the right thing; admittedly, however, her sense of right and wrong is somewhat skewed. She doesn't view the world in black and white but still finds time to find value in all living things. So though it may come off as overbearing motherliness, this wholesomeness of hers easily makes her seem naive or otherwise have blinded logic and intelligence but behind such veil is a strong determination and willpower, sharp instincts, and quite possibly the cold calculation of a serial killer.

She tries to be easy to relate to, in the guise of a conversationalist or counselor. She is a lover and not a fighter, as the adage goes but is not above taking up arms to protect herself or others. She respects authority and values a strong work ethic. She's assertive and at times loud-mouthed. Though Shiva bears no distinct religion, she carries and studies facets of multiple spiritualities.

If Shiva's alignment were to be chosen, she would favor a chaotic good or neutral stance. Her favorite color is yellow and she loves animals, dogs specifically. When under duress, Shiva is quiet and subdued. Some of her nervous tics and lack of a poker face include clicking or twirling pens and stroking or rearranging her hair.

Background

Shiva Hunter was born to Meredith and Anjas "Bobby" Hunter, affluent business owners within the city of New Bangalore on Bernadette. They provided anything and everything that their children could want or need, and they loved their children, but such time and effort spent providing the Core's best had them too busy to be actual parents and only occasionally around their children. As Shiva and her siblings grew up in the best of schools and social circles, they saw more of the personal security details assigned to them than their mother or father and as such those people became like extended family throughout the years. The siblings, especially Shiva, looked out for each other, with Shiva being the second oldest out of six.

By the age of thirteen, Shiva was having a book published. It was how she coped with life where she overachieved due to the guiding hand of her parents, writing, and it paid off to critical acclaim at such an early age. Though she continued to write, she also moved on to earning dual degrees in Law and English at the prestigious New Paris Academy of Law, and only excelled further to the point of publishing more and graduating much earlier than others of her generation. In the past few years, she's now begun to venture forth on her relative lonesome: explore, take an odd job here and there, attend some event, gamble a little, live a lot, and most importantly have fun for once.

Written Works

The Man in Black (pub. 2519)
"I believe in the forgiveness of sin and the redemption of ignorance." - Adlai E. Stevenson.
Such an unassuming character, this man, and such an interesting tale he has to weave as we follow him through the urban sprawl as he becomes an unidentified serial killer. Delve into the psyche of this maddened man and riddle if he truly were insane to begin with as his quest becomes bloodier by the passing of day and night. As his goal and reasoning becomes clearer and clearer, will he succeed in his tasks or become another vile bookmark in history upon his capture?

Godsend, Book One of the series Dove (pub. 2522)
"A person often meets his destiny on the road he took to avoid it." - Jean de La Fontaine.
The hero is Dove Fisher, an underachiever from the slums. The setting is an unremarkable city somewhere on the Border, an urban sprawl where the poor are damned to strife and struggle and the rich swim through depravity and hedonism. The characters are those few who survive the eternally downtrodden. In the end, some will not; lost to eternal turmoil. As Dove finds himself violently reawakening to the world at large, seeing things he never thought possible, he becomes a godsend to conspiracy theorists, the mentally unstable, a secret organization embroiled in mystery and bitter conflict, and a whole lot more.

Oath-Keepers, Book Two of the series Dove (pub. 2523)
"Promises are the uniquely human way of ordering the future, making it predictable and reliable to the extent that this is humanly possible." - Hannah Arendt.
For thirteen long years, the dark bastion of Liberty Island held an infamous prisoner by the name of Victor Newcastle. Convicted of killing twenty-six people in the span of four weeks, and twice as many supernatural creatures in even less of time, he was said to be the vilest Grimm in the past century. Dove's father inadvertently stopped him. Now he has escaped. Only one clue lends to his whereabouts: the constant whisperings overheard by the guards while Newcastle slept, "Dove Fisher..." As Dove finishes settling into his new position within the Anti-Paranormal Unit, he and the rest of the team are sent to assist in escorting an Oath-Keeper - an age-old precognitive ambassador between the supernatural and human worlds. As destinies clash and promises are made, only one thing is certain: Dove Fisher is far from safe.

The Sacrament, Book Three of the series Dove (pub. 2524)
"Peace is not only better than war, but infinitely more arduous."
George Bernard Shaw.
Things go bump in the night as the barrier between the supernatural and human world begins to blur into nothingness, leaving the Anti-Paranormal Unit and its contemporaries, old enemies, and those caught in the crossfire to scramble in an effort to avoid all-out war. Dove Fisher long ago made a promise to someone and in order to fulfill it he must sacrifice everything that means something to him. As the center of this earth-shattering conflict and as it culminates, can he still keep his word?

Versipellis Sanguis (pub. 2527)
"The most dangerous people are the ignorant." - Henry Ward Beecher.
As winter arrives, Lord Wesley and his entourage visit the neighboring country of Galacia to pay court to the King Vargr and her daughter Corinna, the most beauteous and learned princess in all the land. Accompanying Lord Wesley is his son, Ander, a young man of great skill and noble bearing. Wesley and Ander arrive at court to discover the country terrorized by a great demon werewolf. Instead of wooing, Ander and Corinna venture forth to save the kingdom. With his sword and her intellect, can they overcome the evil that plagues the land? After all, there may very well be traitors and more malevolent plans in their midst and under the employ of higher powers.

Black Sigatoka (pub. 2528)
"Mysteries are not necessarily miracles." - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.
As the Marauders, a platoon under the Alliance's 91st Reconnaissance Corps, investigates and routes insurrectionist movements out on the Border, they come across a recently crashed and unidentified research vessel. After being given the go ahead to secure the area and search for any survivors and other vital information, the platoon enters only to discover more mysteries than answers and the struggle for survival soon begins.

An Anthology of Trials and Tribulations: First Edition (pub. 2529)
"Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing." - Benjamin Franklin.
A collection of tales and short stories, both horrific and non-, and most all are based on the author's adventures across the 'verse at large to some degree. Liberties have been taken here and there as all fiction is wont to do, however this large collection of writing exemplifies the extreme caliber of skill this award-winning author is capable of.

Embedded (pub. 2531)
"In my dreams I hear again the crash of guns, the rattle of musketry, the strange, mournful mutter of the battlefield." - Douglas MacArthur.
Attached to the Osprey-class multi-purpose transport Valiant at the time, Shiva E. Hunter finds herself embedded in a team of private military contractors hired out on a mission of infiltration on APC-088 during its final days as the 'verse's most infamous penal moon. Over the days' long struggle, she survives brutal modern warfare and lives on to write the tale. Of note, Embedded marks the author's first venture into creating a piece that is wholly autobiographic in nature.

  • Monoplane Piloting: Shiva is currently trying to become a professional monoplane racer, or at least fly one. She is publicly looking for people to both teach her how to pilot one and build or purchase one outright. She's especially interested in World War II-era interceptors and fighters from Earth-that-was.
