Description
Standing well above six feet, this man is very nearly a giant. Blond hair has been cropped close, a single streak of silver running along the crease of a scar. His features are freckled and open, with a round, genial cast to them. He has been slightly battered by use, with a scar running up into his scalp and a chunk of his right earlobe missing entirely. His eyes are a neon-bright blue. Despite his size, there is no hint of softness to the man's frame, and his shoulders are broad enough to make his height seem entirely natural. Thick arms culminate in scarred, hamlike hands.
He's wearing a tight-fitting T-shirt, navy blue and otherwise unmarked. A long, faux-leather jacket hangs down to mid-thigh, dyed an even ebony. His tight jeans are secured with a black gunbelt, studded with chrome, its buckle ostentatiously shaped like an eagle's wings. A pair of worn, entirely practical, boots complete his ensemble.
Personality
Mike is boisterous and out-going, quick to smile and quick to be pleased by those around him. On the surface, he's just another over-grown puppy, like many large men; eager to avoid offending anyone, and quick to laugh at a joke - particularly his own. The man seems to be able to derive an incredible amount of mirth from an incredibly-tiny bit of humor.
History
Mike Sayles is an orphan. He was born in the slums of Persephone, to a hardworking couple. Unfortunately, they were both killed in a freak crash when he was three. He was taken into an Alliance-funded orphanage and raised to respect the civic responsibilities of government; it was a no-brainer that at seventeen, he would enlist in the seemingly-interminable war for Unification. And after the war? Mike was, rumor has it, recruited into Alliance Special Operations, where he served for almost two decades.
Since then, he was briefly employed by Red Lion Industries as a specialized security consultant for Lord Damian Carmichael before the opportunity came along to strike out on his own. He is now the Captain of the Firefly class transport Praemia.
