You Have Been Warned

La Paz is an ICA => ICC ship. We're reasonable, we're even polite. We enjoy and appreciate good and thoughtful RP, and even demand it of our crew. But, we do play rough at times. So remember, if you like playing with a foot in the grave, make damn sure the other foot ain't on a banana peel. We might just push ya ...

Description

This dragonfly class transport has seen some years from the looks of her. She may be the 'younger cousin' of the firefly class ships, but one could say after a decade of operational use such distinctions might fall on the wayside. The discolored underside is the quickest indication that this vessel has been around the Black a few times. The ship measures out to 210 feet in length and 100 feet in width. She sits lower than a firefly due to her straighter (if less interesting) lines, topping at 32 feet. The dragonfly does possess all the reliability of a firefly, and this one is no exception.

The one distinguishing mark that sets this ship as "La Paz" is the insignia on each side as well as a larger version on the top just behind the bubble viewport of the bridge. It's a scarlet disk, bordered in black, and set in the center is a black spade. There's lettering on the top and bottom of the black border. On the top is, "Los Tres," and on the bottom, "La Paz."

Origins

After the trauma that was Spitfire, Los Tres regrouped on Boros when Morrie revealed she still had a last card up her sleeve. It was a derelict dragonfly the captain had procured in a manner as only Morrie could. Or likely would. Apparently, she'd had this vessel even before the whole Spitfire deal, but put it 'on the shelf' to realize her late uncle's wish. Now, it was all she had, and therefore, all Los Tres had. So, they went to work. Well, Ramon did, since he possessed the widest knowledge of operating a transport in the Black, if not actually commanding one. The others helped, of course, in any way they could.

Bunks were removed and others installed. One room was converted to a brig (a lesson learned from the mutiny, no doubt). Rooms were re-painted, cabinets replaced, desks installed. Morrie talked about a symbol for their joint venture, maybe a way to 'wash' themselves of recent history. Ramon took it to heart, and before anyone could say "Wait!" the pilot had a new insignia painted on the dragonfly: a scarlet disk bordered in black with a black spade in the center. The phrases "Los Tres" ran along the top side of the border, and "La Paz" along the bottom portion.

There was a problem with the compressor pump in the heat exchange assembly of the engine, but Ramon found the bad wiring that needed replacing. After that, everything looked good to go. A series of tests of the various systems went well, and in a day La Paz was flying in the Black once more.

Exploits

The Pirate Deal

While enjoying a glass of tequila in Dregs on Persephone, Ramon got to talking with Gus about a number of things. This eventually led to offers of one thing or another from Gus, on behalf of the Commonwealth as it were. In need of funds, Ramon brought the offer to Los Tres, and they decided to take on the job: the money was just too good to ignore.

At Three Hills, Ramon met the Pirate Captain, Kennedy Sinclair, on behalf of Morrie. The chat was short if interesting, and the company cute. A deal was struck ... and warnings given.

The long flight to Athens proved uneventful. Sitting in a saloon, Samantha and Ramon made their contact, a thin reed of a man surrounded by two mountains of muscle for bodyguards. Talk was tense till Ramon played the pirate card, then tension shifted into the thin man's court. They all left to the site of the pickup. That's where things went south, Thin Man deciding his price just jumped and payment was due--now. A comedy of errors played across both sides of the gunfight, but eventually settled against the Thin Man and Co. The La Paz crew departed with their cargo.

A long flight hooking round the Core planets paid off with no Alliance contacts, and La Paz docked at New Tortuga. Ramon and Samantha received the Pirate Princess once more, and after an interesting meeting, payment was given and drinks were had. Even a hand was kissed.
