Description
Vincent Tanaka is a handsome and lithely built man of Asian extraction. He stands a few inches shy of 6 feet and a weighs just shy of 160lbs. His appearance is neat, from his short well-ordered hair to the way just about every outfit he wears looks freshly pressed and brand new.
Personality
Vincent is generally a quiet and polite young man who does his best not to stand out in most social situations. That said he possesses a stubborn streak, and can be brusque and standoffish when in the presence of fools or the Alliance.
History
Vincent was the only child of David and Akiko Tanaka. His father was a prominent businessman who along with his three brothers ran a number of small shops and restaurants centered around Ariel's spaceport. In 2513, when Vince was five years old, David Tanaka was killed in what was reported to the Alliance as a mugging, and his Daniel took over the family business interests, making sure his nephew and sister-in-law lived comfortably. At age 11 at his mother's urging Vincent left school and went to work for his uncle, working in the family restaurants as dish washer, and general gopher for his uncle often putting in sixteen hour days.
Still somehow Vince found the time to get in trouble with the law. He was pinched a few times for petty theft and once for assault, but the complainants all dropped the charges before it went to trial, and his final pinch on possession of a weapon was settled with a fine. However after a number of killings in the area of Ariel's docks in 2524, Vincent, aged 16 left his work and family to live with his girlfriend Cecilia Tarribotti and her grandparents on Osiris.
On Osiris, Vincent started turning his life around, still working hard, this time tending bar for the Duat Club in the heart of Osiris, he finished his public school education before taking a job with Impax Industries as marketing representative and moving to Persephone with his girlfriend. Today Vince carries on his work and education, signing on with the Wulver part time to help them with their public relations while at the same time learning to fly and maintain ships.

The Tanaka family presents itself as a family of successful entrepreneurs who run a number of businesses around Ariel’s spaceport including Tanaka Food Services, a food importation service that serves a number of planet’s major hotels and restaurants. The family’s patriarch is Vincent’s uncle, Daniel Kintaro Tanaka, who runs the family businesses with help from his two younger brothers Ken and Shiro Tanaka, though a small army of cousins and other un-related associates help run the day to day operations of their legitimate businesses.
Behind the scenes the Tanaka family’s real business is crime. They use their connections at the spaceport to facilitate the smuggling of contraband onto Ariel and the money from that goes into funding their interests in the grey areas of the vice industry near the port. Given the ever-present eye of the Alliance on Ariel they operate cautiously, recruiting only the best and brightest from the family into their true business and enforcing a rigid discipline on those who are chosen. Violence, when necessary, is employed cleanly and when possible done off world.
Despite these measures there have been some incidents of violence that are believed to be linked to them from 2524, during a possible gang war with another Ariel based crime group the Vunderman family. Since then however, they have returned to their quiet business as usual mode of operation.
