Talk:News:Ships

From Serenity : The Wiki

My goal in re-doing this page was to provide a quick and handy reference-- similar to the weapons page --in which several ships could be compared at the same time. As-is, the table has ship-type (specifically, what skill is required to fly what ship), Cargo Capacity, Speed, and Cost.

Would it be worth adding anything else (turn rate or fuel load, for example), or would that be useless information that just crowds up the screen?

Also; if anyone can find information on the damned Independent Blockade Runner, I'd love them forever. Until than, that whole line has been 'commented out.'

First of all brava for this, it's a great improvement. As for adding other info... my personal opinion is that perhaps the max crew or number of shuttles could be useful (in the context of actually picking a ship to buy). But not the fuel load or turn rate. Just my two cents. I'm a fan of minimal clutter as well. --Otrere 18:19, 1 December 2009 (CST)
I always enjoy a good "brava." I'll see if I can't fit in max crew at the very least (being that shuttles are, for the most part, a "yes or no," I'm hesitant to add that). Out of sheer curiosity, does it look too "big" on your end? My only working computer is stuck with 800x600 resolution...and while it looks fine on that, I'm not sure how it'll turn out on another PC. --User:Evalyn
I understand the point about shuttles (if it's a concern for someone, they can still look up the info). It looks good on my end, even with the new column... very clean and usable. As for adding data to the table, I can't suggest a simple approach, I'm afraid. It's either "by hand", or it's "set up the table in a spreadsheet... use columns of the spreadsheet to fill in the pipe codes, then copy to a text file, strip out blank space, and copy over to the wiki." That can be effective sometimes, but as you see, isn't exactly simple. (p.s., wiki trick, use four tildes (~~~~) to auto generate a signature and datestamp.) --Otrere 22:48, 1 December 2009 (CST)
