History

The Long-Range Shuttle Tereshkova was first owned by Russian trader Anatoly Korolyov and was used to carry highly profitable and highly illegal goods from one end of the 'Verse to the other. But nothing lasts forever and war got in the way of Korolyov's business. The man tried get into arms smuggling, but was not welcomed very warmly by the Independents he tried to sell to, due to his very high prices. They 'confiscated' the shuttle and turned it into medevac unit instead. Through to the end of the war the LRS Tereshkova served as a land-to-space shuttle, carrying wounded from the battlefield to larger hospital ships in orbit.

What happened after the war is a matter of guesswork, but the shuttle saw a lot of miles and eventually ended up in cold storage on St. Albans, where it was found by Madison Radcliffe in October 2522. Following Madison's death just over a year later, the shuttle passed into the hands of Eyvindr Bjarnarsun. The shuttle was overhauled and returned to medical duty, as an ambulance and support ship for the Guan-Yin II.

Behind the Scenes

The shuttle was named for Valentina Tereshkova, a cosmonaut on Earth-That-Was who became the first woman to go into space on 16 June 1963.
