It's late, very late, at the Beaumonde spaceport, but the port is always open to //some// degree. Shuttles are still coming and going, and incoming ships are still being decontaminated while sleepy coffee shop employees are being kept awake at their posts by the sound of janitors cleaning the floor with buffing machines.

Cameron is standing alone a row of holo-monitors that displace pending take-off and landing schedules. A tall, thin brown-haired asian girl steps over to him with a straight-legged walk, and after what appears to be an awkward greeting, the two of them give each other a long-lost-friend hug. Cameron pulls away from her and runs a hand through his hair, starting to explain something to her. It looks like he's barely managed to sleep for days. The girl he's talking to puts her hand on his shoulder and points toward the shuttle bar, doing her best to try to convince the man of something.

The shuttle from Londinium settles on the landing pad in a cloud of dust thrown up by the retrorockets, and the few passengers disembark. Jacy's one of them, and the first thing she does, after cricking her neck to stretch, is to head over to the DAS office at the spaceport to introduce herself. Cameron may well not know it, but a warrant has been issued for his arrest, and should he attempt to board a public shuttle his ID will be red-flagged. She checks that the paperwork has come through correctly, and tells the sleepy desk sergeant, "I've made arrangements to meet him here. He may or may not turn up, but if he does, I want a softly-softly approach until I make contact with him. Don't initiate contact unless your officers think he's a flight risk, or unless he looks to be a threat." The sergeant yawns and nods. "Now," Jacy says, "Where's a good place to get a cup of coffee?"

Shuttles come and they go, but eventually one arrives from Silverhold, by way of ... somewhere. Not Londinium though. Cody gets off, yawning, as she does so, a duffle bag slung over one shoulder. She rubs at her eyes, takes a look around and then she wrinkles her nose, pulling her pda from its holster at her waist and sending a quick message. She then scrubs her fingers through her hair, and turns to look for a good spot to buy coffee. She has a feeling she might need some. A quick stretch, another look around, and then Cody adjusts the strap on her bag, before she starts making her way through the not-so-crowds.

"Cam, don't be a fool, you and I both know you didn't do it but waiting around until you get arrested isn't going to do you any good. It's just gonna get you thrown in jail for the rest of your life." Ratana says to Cameron, folding her arms across her thin, athletic frame. "Please, seriously, Cam, you've got to get out of here."

"Tan, I don't even know if I'm going to get arrested. I didn't shoot Po, so there's no way that ballistics report is gonna flag it as the murder weapon. For all I know she's just coming here to tell me I'm off the hook but to stay in town." He replies.

"If she were going to do that, she would have sent you a wave and told you so." She replies, giving him 'the look'.

Cameron lifts his head and stares to the ceiling, giving it a frustrated shake of his head. He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a pack of cigarettes, lighting one. "Fugitive or not-fugitive. That's a bloody fucked predicament, isn't it." He replies, spying Cody in the distance. Giving a little chirp, he reaches up to the sky and waves to her, trying to get her attention.

"This isn't a predicament, Cam, get the fuck out of here //now//. You're not doing anyone any good getting your posh-ass execute--" She slows, glancing over her shoulder to see Cody. "Who's she?"

"That's her."

"...Oh."

The young DAS detective, Jacy, heads into the coffee bar. She's already pulled her badge out from under her shirt, letting it dangle ominously on her chest, and so there's a certain little chilling of the atmosphere in the bar as she enters. Not that it's exactly full - just a couple of bleary-eyed travellers propping up the counter and a tired waitress who gives Jacy a dirty look, but fetches her a cup of the brew optimistically advertised as 'freshly brewed coffee'. Jacy smiles politely to the other customers, tips generously but not extravagantly, and takes up a stool in the far corner of the room where she can see the door and the window clearly. Her smartcomm unit is fiddled with briefly, making sure it's tuned to the frequency used by the local spaceport cops, and then she settles back to wait.

Cody hears a little chirp that is somewhat familiar, and turns her attention to that direction, changing her mind about the coffee. She decides that making her way over to Cameron and his friend is more important, at least for the moment. She's not sure entirely what is going on, but there's only one way to find out, right? "Evening," she says as she nears, giving the woman with Cameron a once-over. "Cameron, are you okay?" First question out of her mouth, because it's always about the people, at least for Cody. A nod to the stranger, but Cody is definitely focussed on Cameron at the moment.

Cameron looks to Ratana, judging the look on her face before he moves to meet Cody halfway. This puts him in view of Jacy at her coffee shop, at an angle that he isn't paying attention to at the moment. Looking exhausted, he steps over to Cody and wraps his arms around her in an emotional hug. "Not really. I hope you got my waves. They're running tests on my gun but the detective thinks I did it..."

Ratana watches the two of them hug, and before she can be caught doing so, she takes a step back and slides her hands behind her back, turning her attention to the clutch of holoterminals.

"...and, fuck I don't know. Ratana's telling me I should get out of here before I get arrested, but if I make a run for it that's just another charge I'm gonna get tacked onto me." He shakes his head. "I don't know what to do, dove."

Dove. That gets a look from Ratana. A small vein of jealousy crosses her features, and she turns her head back to look at them. "Cody, please, for his own good tell him to make a run for it. This is bad news. If you heard //half// of the shit his mother told me was about to happen you'd take him to ground, too."

In the coffee bar, Jacy startles, freezing as she spots Cameron through the window. She sets down her coffee, mercifully untasted, slips off her stool and heads towards the door. She's already drawing her sidearm, the custom and unusual DAS .41 autoshot from her left hip, causing the waitress to squeal in alarm and drop the plate of stale apple pie she's carrying to one of the other customers. So as Jacy pushes open the door, there comes from behind her the crash of shattering china on the dirty linoleum floor. The crash and squeal are enough to cause Jacy to spin around, raising her gun at the poor waitress, a spasm of anger washing over her features as she realizes what's just happened. Then she whirls back again, trying to pick up Cameron once more.

Cody sort of pauses as she looks over at whoever the woman is. Her brow arches, as she considers what Cam just said. "Ratana?" she asks, and there is a coolness in that word. She's obviously heard the name somewhere before. She returns Cam's hug, and then says, "If I'd heard half of what his mother told you was about to happen - that sounds like you have some information that would help him out to me. But instead, you're telling him to run for it? And do what, hide for the rest of his life?" She keeps an arm around Cameron's waist as she looks to him now, her voice softening. "I'll help how I can, and I did get your waves, but - I'm not exactly clear on what's going on. When was this crime anyway?" she asks, her head tilting a bit. "And - your mother?" Cause well, she's got a bad feeling about this, and then some. Cody's not much on the running thing, but she's not ever been wanted by the law either.

At the sound of a squeal, a really loud squeal, her attention goes towards that coffee shop, in time to see the woman coming out with the sidearm drawn. Not that it means so much to Cody, who doesn't know who the heck she is. Though given this is Beaumonde and not way out in the middle of nowhere on the rim, she doesn't immediately assume ambush and draw her own weapon. "That looks like trouble," she observse.

You test your Willpower against a 50 difficulty. The result is successful (14).

"Yeah, I have information, his //mother// sent me to get him out of here and someone safe but he's a dumb, overgrown child sometimes and doesn't know when to make the smart decision and keep his mouth shut." Ratana replies, palming her forehead and giving Cameron's arm a hard shrug. Stepping in close to the two, she lowers her voice. "Look, we need to get out of here //now//, we can talk later."

"Ratana, if you've got something, you need to let me kn--" Cameron quickly interjects, and then both he and Ratana whip their heads around to the coffee shop to see Jacy with her gun drawn. Ratana reaches out to Cameron's arm and gives it a //hard// tug...and Cameron holds his ground.

Cameron turns to Cody, grabbing her shoulders. "Cody, I didn't do it. Whatever they tell you I DIDN'T DO IT. I swear. Someone killed an old friend of mine and planted it on me and..." He starts to rapid-fire explain, eyes pleading with her. "...whatever they tell you I swear to god, Cody." He rips the elephant necklace from his neck and shoves it into her hand.

Again, Ratana notices, her eyes sharpening. She steps in to interrupt. "CAMERON THEY'RE GOING TO FUCKING -KILL- YOU! GOD DAMNIT -MOVE-!" Ratana barks, trying to enlist Cody's help in this.

And for a moment it does look like Jacy's going to kill Cameron. A green laser stabs out from her sidearm, darting around and settling on Cameron, although given that Jacy's still walking towards them, her aim isn't so good and the emerald spot flickers across his arm, dances onto Ratana's cheek, and then darts back to Cameron's chest. "Dasari!" Jacy yells, "On the floor now! Hands where I can see them! All of you, face down on the floor!" There's an arrogant confidence in her voice, perhaps masking the fear inside her. The green laser stabs towards Cody by way of emphasis as Jacy jerks her wrist towards her as well. "Down! You too!"

Cody tests her Perception against a 70 difficulty. The result is unsuccessful (-19).

Cody tests her Willpower against a 70 difficulty. The result is unsuccessful (-4).

Cody tests her Spot against a 50 difficulty. The result is successful (6).

Wait, what? Cody gets this necklace passed to her, and her hands instinctively take it, holding on to it and tucking it down her shirt. Her gaze goes to the incoming woman, catching sight of the id, and she pauses, not really up for a fight with the feds, all things considered. She turns her gaze to Cameron, and it's sort of pained and uncertain, though he does get a split second of trust showing, before she simply raises her hands so that she is obviously not doing anything despite being armed. "We'll figure it out, Cameron," is what she says, and she, crazy woman that she is, means it. "Officer, I'm a law abiding citizen," she says, her voice mostly calm and neutral. "And I'm just going to put my bag down, nothing more, so I don't break anything in it. Am I under arrest?" She takes one hand to let the bag get set gently down and then she puts both hands back in the air, keeping a watch on things, as she kneels down. No doubt Rodney will laugh, if she gets to tell the story.

Cameron quiets, watching Cody's eyes with an intense look while he watches the green beam dart in between the three of them. He mouths the words 'I'm sorry' to the two of them and turns slowly, arms out to the sides to show Jacy that he's unarmed. Swallowing hard, he lowers to one knee.

"God damnit, Cam." Ratana whispers, looking over to Cody to see what she's going to do.

"Detective these are just my friends." Cameron calls out as his other knee hits the floor. "I had them come here so that I could say goodbye to them. Please, I'm not going to give you any trouble." He lowers the rest of his body to the floor and places his hands over his head, submitting to the DAS authority.

Ratana looks between Cameron and Cody, and there's no doubt that she's considering making a run for it. However, after a moment's consideration, she holds up her hands and looks over to Cody. "We need to talk." She says quietly and then lowers to one of her knees.

Jacy is pale, sweat beading on her temples as she straddles Cameron. "Either of you two try anything and I shoot him, then you," she growls to Cody and Ratana, jamming the gun into Cameron's neck as she transfers one hand off of the gun to hunt for her cuffs. The metal bracelet is snapped onto Cameron's right wrist by Jacy's trembling fingers, then the hand twisted down behind his back, before she goes for the second wrist. "Cameron Dasari..." Jacy's breathing heavily, "You are bound by law for the murder of Kwei-tze Po. Your sidearm was a ballistics match for the murder weapon," she blurts out triumphantly as she finally holsters her own Autoshot. "You're going down for this."

Cody's not about to do anything - that would cause her far more trouble than she's wanting, truthfully. She watches, a hint of pain in her eyes, as she listens, and tries to figure out how this all might have happened. Ratana's words get a sharp look, and a half shrug, but Cody's hands do not go near her sidearm in any way, shape or form. No matter how tempting it might be. She stays silent, listening, and her brow furrows, nose wrinkling at the information that comes out - his gun, a ballistics match, and one has to wonder if they were friends, why would he shoot ... never mind, whoever looked for logic. "Where are you taking Cameron, and will he be allowed visitors?" Cody asks after a moment. She's pondering quite honestly what lawyers she knows and which of them to get involved.

Cameron doesn't fight Jacy, which is something probably best to not do while having a gun pressed to the side of your neck. Instead, he closes his eyes and sighs, letting the worst of it pass like a third-party observer in the same way that one waits for the needle to finish drawing blood. His back rises and falls, breathing heavily while his mind races. "Detective, that's impossible that the gun came back a match. Impossible. Please, you've got the wrong man." He replies, blowing a sigh through his lips.

Ratana, like Cody, doesn't give Jacy any reasons to start shooting. Instead, she frowns and puts her hands on the top of her head, giving them something to hang on to while waiting for all of this to be over.

"Yeah, yeah, you never met Po, you never argued, you never killed him, you're innocent, blah blah blah," Jacy sneers as she comes off the cuffed Cameron. She makes a 'give me' gesture with her forefinger and middlefinger to both Cody and Ratana. "You two...IDs, now." And then it occurs to her that there are three of them, albeit one cuffed, and only one of her, and backup would be nice. She pulls out her smartcomm and brings it to her lips to call for backup.

Cody keeps one hand free, and she pulls out her alliance id, which matches her to UDC and of late, the Guan Yin, if those records are updated. Fine upsdtanding citizen, she is. Honest. She simply passes it over without a word, though she does note that she got no answer, and that too brings a thoughtful look to her face. It occurs to her that she does indeed know someone who might suffice as a lawyer, and her expression eases a titch, though for now, she merely says, mildly, "Ma'am, is there any way that report could be wrong?"

Cameron's wallet is sitting directly in the back pocket of his jeans, which as he's currently face down to the floor is easily accessible. Now handcuffed, he opens his eyes to watch Cody's boots from a worm's eye view. "Well no, I knew Po, him and I were mates, but I wouldn't shoot a mate, Detective." He replies, but his voice quiets when he finally accepts there's little point to it. He's collared.

Ratana chews her lip and gives the detective a long look before she reaches into her pocket and pulls out a small case for her cards. Flipping it open, she peels out her ID and offers it over to the woman. She doesn't say a word anymore, and instead glances over to Cody, hoping that this one goes without issue for them as well.

Jacy steps back, examining both the ID cards and then scanning them, making sure that neither is wanted by law. And she breathes a little easier as the local law enforcement start to show up, hurrying up with weapons drawn. She lifts her badge and chain off her neck to wave it at the approaching cavalry, making sure she won't be mistaken for an accomplice of the prisoner - now that would be embarrassing. "Cody Martin. Ratana...Hyusen." She paused just for a moment over the pronounciation. She's still sweating as she hands the IDs back. "Mr Dasari will be taken to the DAS HQ on Londinium for further questioning." The words trip smoothly off her tongue, despite that 'questioning' can mean practically anything in this day and age. "I advised him when we last met to get a lawyer, and I'll repeat that advice. As for you two...you're free to go."

Cameron tilts his head at a painful angle to get a better look up to Cody, and instead of saying something, he merely just stares. Thoroughly defeated, he mouths 'visit me?' and then sighs once more, waiting to be dragged back to Londinium by the authorities. Anything he says now can be used against him, so he takes Amaya's advice and just keeps his fool mouth shut.

Ratana, on the other hand, reaches out and takes her ID card back from Jacy and then turns to Cody, trying to nudge her back in the direction of the shuttles. "We can't do anything for him from here." She whispers softly to Cody, loud enough to be heard by Jacy. She rests her well-manicured fingertips on Cody's upper arm and frowns to her. "We've got a lot to do in a really small time frame, Cody."

Cody takes her id back once it's scanned, and she gets to her feet. She then moves to get her duffle bag, and pauses. "DAS HQ on Londinium, got it. And what about visitors?" she asks, standing pat for that answer, even if she's itching to get her fingers on her pda and start sending waves. She gives the Ratana person a long look, but waits to hear what the officer says first. "During regular visiting hours, following the standard process?" she asks, trying to help things a long. And then she looks over to Ratana briefly, obviously, before her attention is back on Cameron, catching sight of that mouthed request. Heart breaking, isn't it? "Hang in there, Cameron." The words infused with belief and strength of purpose, though she does step away from Ratana, not happy about being touched by the other woman.

"Oh I'm hanging in here." Cameron interjects, laughing softly. "I might get out of this with a college education if I don't hang."

"Oh my god he hasn't changed." Ratana groans, giving Cody a sympathetic look.

"After he's charged, he can have visitors. Before he's charged, just his lawyer. And we /will/ charge him," Jacy promises. She's still surfing on the wave of her own exultation in capturing Cameron without a fight. She leans over him, pulling at his wrists; "Up you get. To your knees, then stand up. We'll be taking the first shuttle back to Londinium..." She pauses, and then asks, incredulously, "Why did you come here? When you knew the ballistics would come back positive, why didn't you just run to the Rim, or go underground?" she asks Cameron.

Cody wrinkles her nose at Cameron, and then she flashes him a grin. "I have some stuff to do, but take care. We'll be visiting," she says. Though at the officer's question, she pauses. "Maybe because he didn't expect the ballistics to match, cause they shouldn't?" she suggests softly. Ahem. Then she turns to Ratana, with a bit of a coolness to her expression. "we have lots to do, do we? Alright then, where is it you are wanting to go? And just what the heck is it you think we have to do?" She starts to walk away, sure there's nothing she can do to help Cameron in person at the moment. And she's got a few calls to make besides.

"Alright. I'll be you know where." Cameron replies with a mumble, face pressed against the floor for a moment. Pressing his shoulder into the floor, he starts to push himself up to his feet, wobbling a little bit as he tries to get his balance beneath him. Looking all around him to the gaping faces of the innocent bystanders rubbernecking at the open murder arrest, he gives them all a flat look and then turns towards Jacy. "Right, let's get out of here before someone records something. I'd rather keep this as quiet as possible until my father hears. Oh gods..." He looks over towards Cody and Ratana. "...don't tell them! B--fuck it. Do what you think is right." He replies, being compliant to Jacy's commands.

Ratana waits until she's out of earshot. "Cameron's mother got a black rose in the mail the other day. It was in her mailbox." The modelesque beauty looks over to Cody, casting a serious look towards her. "Elyne thought Cam would listen to me since him and I used to be engaged." See what she did there? "Apparently that wasn't good enough, but his mother seems to think Cameron's life is in danger. I think she's right."
