Boros - Legionaire War: Meanwhile...
Zank is in one of the planning rooms of the Giest. He has a small table set up next to the projecting table which had a 3d model of the local space above and near Boros. The model shows images of the junkyard that now orbits the planet from the recent battle along with that a small holographic Ferret is present as well. It seems to chitter and look at the Holograms of the system. Zank himself sits at the small table he has set up next to holo-table. It has paper charts and diagrams of all sorts of what looks like math, calculations, and star charts. The Ferret turns and seems to talk to Zank "Captain Lines I can do that Math for you if you'd like my accura-"
Zank cuts him off "We already talked about this. It's all just theoretical--the math I mean. You focus on plotting that debris."
The ferret Blinks "Your errors are much more likely." It says.
Zank doesn't look up "noted." Zank continues to work in silence as he ponders over. The holographic Ferret seems to watch him and chitter, after several minuets the AI speaks, "Captain Lines may I make a inquiry?" Zank looks up from his work pausing.
"On?" he asks
"Legion," responds the Ferret. "You have had direct personal contact with this organization if what i have gathered is correct." Duke states
Zank blinks "So have a lot of folk" Zank responds dryly <English>
Duke the ferret dose seem to nod at Zank's response. "Yes that is true, in fact several individuals I have encountered have had similar experiences to your own, but this is not the question i wish to ask."
Zank blinks seeming to confuse the AI for a moment but taking the hard stare from the Human as a cue to continue.
"My question is why. Why dose Legion continue to wage war when clearly they are outmatched. They stand little chance of surviving this attack of Boros and have suffered serious losses in the past years to both Alliance and Churara operations, yet they persist."
Zank tilts his head slightly "Your a smart AI right?" he asks
"I attempt to be." Duke responds in a surprisingly dry tone. <English>
Zank nods "You probably have access to the cortex and human history then. How many examples of humans acting this way can you find?" Zank asks.
The AI pauses for almost 10 whole seconds "I am finding error in my outcome. Search per-"
Zank cuts the AI off, "You have your answer then...humans don't always act logically, a lot of the time we react off of emotion. how we feel...we-"
Now Duke cuts Zank off "I understand humans have emotions. I understand that you don't always react in the logical sense. I do, I can't not..."
Zank narrows his eyes slightly "Then why ask the question?" he asks.
"Because the longer this conflict continues the more at risk we stand of loosing more members of our side." The AI says.
Zank blinks "Are you saying you care if we live or die? You're worried?"
"No not worrying. That is an emotion. I am incapable of such a thing. Besides, we only just met and your continued existence dose not factor into my protection of the Geist and its crew." Duke says.
Zank blinks and sits back in his chair "Ouch, didn't think it would hurt to be rejected by a Computer program. I thought they said you were bad at jokes?" Zank says in a flat tone.
"I wasn't joking." Duke response the holo Ferret says moving around the holo-table.
Zank shrugs "Anyway I think you are worried. Worried for the crew the Giest the folks trapped on Boros. The-"
"I already stated I can not worry. I am incapable of such a thing. It is human. I am not. My continued task of the full functioning of the Giest and her crew is my only duty at this time." Duke says point of fact.
Zank grins "same thing..." he says <English>
