The Amethyst 1900 is truly a work of art. Using the same basic technology as the Hover MULEs seen all around the 'Verse, but with much more art in the design, more quality in the materials, and all-in-all, less functionality in the design, this model seats two, has room for almost no cargo above a couple of backpacks or a large picnic basket, and goes unnecessarily fast. The pride of the Amethyst Vehicle Concern of Ariel, the 1900 carries a price tag to match its status, and so is rarely, if ever, seen outside the richer areas of the Core Worlds.

Technical Information

The 1900 features twin rear-mounted ducted fan engines, providing the main body of the thrust of the vehicle. The lifting power is provided by a grav screen mounted on the underside, and while this sort of technology is found all over the verse, the 1900 uses the best Core-built parts for a smooth, reliable ride. There are also two nose-mounted control fins, allowing for greater control and stability, especially at the high speeds the 1900 is capable of. It's capable of low-level atmospheric flight, but it operates at under a metre from the ground except in very special circumstances, for reasons of efficiency and safety.

This is the first model in the AVC line to include a helmet-mounted HUD, transmitted wirelessly to the helmet that comes with the bike. It operates on voice control through the microphone mounted in the helmet, as well as an audio output. The HUD displays include speed, battery charge levels, a GPS-link for navigation, and various other selectable displays. They're all tuned to reduce the impact on visibility of the driver, and there is an image intensification mode for night driving.

History

The 1900 was first seen in vehicle shows on Ariel in late 2520, and was released for limited commercial sale in June, 2521. They've been trickling out of the factory, and are just starting to become a less rare, though far from common, sight in the Core. Very few models have made their way outside the Core, and those that have have been special orders by wealthy patrons.
