A viral-video from an unknown origin finds it's way across the 'verse, welcoming all those who find it to watch.
The screen cuts to the image of a stage with a simple podium at it's center against a black background with Duke, an anthropomorphic Sable Ferret in a simple suit walking towards the podium. Where there is usually a smile, Dukes expression is solemn, even sad.
"People of the verse.. It is with a heavy heart that I bring this news to you today. You are all well aware that Lord Damian Carmichael, former Duke of Osiris and the genius behind so many recent medical advancements, has been killed. What you don't know are the circumstances. I am here today with footage of the Battle of Osiris, so that the truth can shine through in these dark times.<\span>"
Duke almost seems like he's on the verge of tears as he speaks and when the screen pops up to one side of him, he doesn't evem motion to it as he normally would, just stands watching the camera.
The video feed looks like it's from the scope of a sniper rifle somewhere outside the battlefield on Osiris, the magnification enough to pan across large areas of the battlefield. The screen captures innocent civilians caught in the crossfire and the 'terrorists' using tranquilizer guns and sonic rifles, while the Alliance Soldiers tear into them with live rounds.
"The Alliance will vilify this truly noble man for the actions he took this day, they will forget to mention the millions of lives he's saved through his selflessness over the years he was alive. This was the man who saved us from the Degeneration Disease, which threatened to devolve those who came in contact with it. Who offered medical assistance to all those who needed it, regardless of whether they could pay for it or not. This man was a saint who wanted nothing more than to help those who truly needed it and his death will leave a great void for many.<\span>"
Duke wipes away the tears now streaming down his face and sniffles as the footage of the grisly battle vanishes.
"Please, for the good of those you love and of those around you, I beg you all to live by this mans example: Show compassion and kindness to those you meet and strive to make the universe a better place.<\span>"
The black background goes to a depiction of Damian Carmichael, standing in front of the symbol of his company, Red Lion Industries, with open arms.
"Let his memory live on forever in the hearts of good people who would help those in need! To quote Damian Carmichael himself: The measure of a good man is not found in fame or how much he has gained, but in how much he is willing to give for those who need him.<\span>"
Duke practically collapses onto the podium, sobbing as the screen fades away. ==============================================================================
