Homeschooled by his parents

History

Victor Makmoud Qasim grew up on Ezra, surrounded by mercenaries and thugs. His parents were Arabic and as caring as two thieves could be, but managed to bring their child up with a good since of right and wrong, although slightly muddled with 'do what you have to to survive'. His parents taught him to speak their ancestors' native tongue to instill the cultural roots of their religion in him. He started selling his services as a gun-for-hire, although never really liked the unjustified killing that came along with the job. He slighted an employer named Marcus Barrus when he refused a contract and the man came after him. His parents were murdered, and Marcus hobbled young Victor for life, shattering his knee with a point-blank gunshot wound. This all happened when Victor was only twenty-five years old, and he's spent the last ten years jumping from ship to ship hoping that his path will someday intersect with Marcus'. He spent a lot of his down time speaking with his old friend Captain Jacobs of the Legerdemain. Jacobs was a bit of a warhorse and he helped the broken Victor rebuild his life. Jacobs taught the young merc how to better use a rifle with a combination of breathing techniques and other tips. Jacobs and the Legerdemain were both, however destroyed during a routine refueling at a colony when the fuel line backed up. Victor was off gathering supplies when he heard the news. This hurt the man, but he had to move on. He quickly found another job on an old ship named the Equivocator. Not much of importance happened, other than the fact the Victor was mainly the chef and not the security. He loved it. Cooking helped him forget about things for a while...even if the crew wasn't too keen on it.

Description

The man before you is tall six foot, two inches. He's not what someone would call 'muscle-bound', but he looks as if he's taken good care of his body. His face isn't exactly classically handsome, but he's definitely not ugly. His dark complexion compliments his brown eyes, which tend to sparkle all by themselves, giving him a generally jovial look. He has thin black hair that is kept just barely within grooming specifications, as it's often left a little bit messied.

He's wearing his standard Alliance utility uniform emblazoned with his rank, indicating his status as a Gunnery Sergeant. His uniform does have a few slight variations from the norm, however. Around his waist is a hearty utility belt with a holster hanging down to a position where is is strapped around his thigh and it contains a very curious-looking handcannon. The other thing that could be seen as out of the norm is the fact that his sleeves are rolled up to the elbows, revealing the armored plates that are fastened around his forearms, indicating that there's probably more of them elsewhere.

Personality

A generally good-natured sort. Having put most of his demons to rest, Victor has found it easier to be amicable towards people, these days. While he still pretty much fits the picture of a "lone wolf", his recent induction into the Alliance military is serving as a means of opening him up.

Recent History

After working on the Wulver for quite some time, Victor and a few other members of the crew were stricken with a disease that caused them to revert to a caveman-like state. While being held on the Guan Yin, Victor met Sypher Maxwell and claimed the man as his own. After being cured, Victor left the Wulver and joined up with Sypher on the Falkirk, pledging his allegiance to Lord Damian Carmichael. He is currently still serving on board the 'Kirk and is beginning to open up to the crew, due to the fact that he's recently had to coordinate an attack plan in an effort to retrieve the kidnapped Sypher who was taken captive by members of The Seven, a mercenary band operating out of a base on Lilac.

After a stint of not having much to do, Victor has left the Falkirk, albeit not officially, to pursue various other career paths. Recently, Victor has joined the Alliance, finding a position as a Gunnery Sergeant aboard the ABS Destiny.

Victor Qasim was promoted to Lieutenant within the Alliance after various successful combat operations.
