The Land Pattern Musket, or as it is commonly known 'Brown Bess Musket', was the standard musket for British forces for well over a hundred years, and under the law that all persons must own a musket in the Thirteen Colonies, it saw wide use in the Revolutionary War on both sides. There are several variants of it, the later models replacing most of the non-stress iron fittings with brass. The barrel varied from 39 to 46 inches with a fitting for a triangular socket bayonet at the end.
