SIG-Sauer P220
SIG-Sauer P220
Availability: Rare
The SIG-Sauer was originally developed on Earth-That-Was during the early 1970s by a famous Swiss company Schweizerische Industrie-Gesellschaft, or SIG in short. It was intended to replace the extremely accurate, but overly expensive, SIG P210 pistol in service with Swiss and other national armies. The pistol's design was extremely promising, but strict Swiss laws limited the export of war materiel so SIG decided to move the manufacture of its newest pistol abroad. For this reason, SIG Holdings AG acquired a significant percentage of stock in the J.P. Sauer & Son Company, which was located in Germany. This weapon is a short-recoil operated, breech locked pistol with it's stainless frame anodized black. The slide grips and accents have been burnished to a bright finish and the buttons, fittings and trigger are nickel stainless that contrast the black frame, in a style known as Equinox. Despite the P220 logo impressed in the textured rubber grips, this weapon carries the later high capacity double column magazine that was featured in the short-lived P221 model.
