== Can't Stop the Serenity : What It Is ==
We are here to support equality. We hold true to the the idea that people should “aim to misbehave” if it means doing the right thing, that a government shouldn't destroy the rights of its citizens, and that anyone can make a difference even if they don't believe it. We support our causes and do what we do because we live in countries that give us the freedom to do so. But there are other people out there who can't do what we do. So, once a year, we hold Can't Stop the Serenity: a charity screening to raise money for Equality Now.
== NEW FOR 2016 ==
For the first time since 2006, the Minneapolis screening of "Serenity" will be ONE NIGHT ONLY Thursday, August 11. No, we're not losing interest or suffering from a lack of commitment. On the contrary, the past several years we've had a HUGE increase in first-time attendees. "Babes in the Woods" when it came to Serenity and her universe.
No, the reason for the change was in conjunction with our most important sponsor – The Riverview Theater. Loren and the staff have been there for us since Day One, sacrificing their normal neighborhood and family oriented summer schedule in order to provide us the fabulous experience of watching our favorite little piece of cinema in one of the most delightful movie houses in the Twin Cities. The success of their summer program created such a local demand that, in order to be good neighbors ourselves, we agreed to screen "Serenity" just once this year. With your continued support, and also the ever-growing support from newly-minted Brownouts, we want to rock the Riverview again this year.
So come out and support Equality Now, Can't Stop the Serenity itself, and our own Riverview Theater August 11, 2016.
See you in the world....
Your CSTS Minneapolis Staff
