History

Born on Persephone to Jacob and Olivia Mason, Woody grew up with a rather unremarkable childhood given his environment. He learned to fight, play, drink, talk to women, and all the various things that other boys generally learn when growing up in the fashion he did. Eventually, his father taught him to shoot, and so his childhood carried on in a rather predictable fashion for a boy such as he.

Jacob was a stalwart, traditional Browncoat whom made a living as a carpenter, and raised his son to have a certain distrust for the Alliance from the get go. He was a good man, whom instilled in his son the same moral values work ethic he held in himself. His mother Olivia was a supportive woman who believed in the same as her husband. She reinforced what he taught his son, all in all acting as a good wife to her husband and a good mother to her child.

When Woody was ten, he got his first job in a bar, as a busboy. It was a small start, but an important one, initially just earnig his wages to help his family along and gain a bit of extra pocket money for himself along the way. However, it wasn't long before he found himself helping out in the kitchen. It started with dishes, and being told that if he wanted to keep getting discount lunch he needed to learn to cook it himself. By the time he was 16 he was a full fledged bar cook, and it was in a similar fashion that he moved along to mixing drinks and pouring beers, moving into bartending at the age of 20. At 25, Woody secured a job at the Dregs after having worked at a couple local hole in the wall bars about town, he's now a fairly permenent resident at the Dregs. Behind the counter, he picked up a plethora of other skills. Usually, he was the bouncer, the barkeep, the backup cook, the shrink, and the middle man. He also learned a fair bit about making basic repairs around the bar, kicking the oven back to life and fixing the various other appliances that occasionally putter out.

Personality

He may not be quick with a joke or to light up your smoke, but there's no place that he'd rather be. He doesn't dislike people that prefer the black to the solid ground, but he's happy exactly where he is. He tends to be a bit world weary and distant to unfamiliar faces, but regular aquantences will see the stoic yet friendly side that garnishes trust easily.

Trivia

  • Woody had his first girlfriend when he was 11. They got all the way to pop kisses before breaking up because Woody couldn't spell 'cat' yet and another boy could.
  • When Woody was a boy, he fell down a hill and shattered his jaw. Everyone he knew was sure he'd been beaten up, and teased him about it. He still gets a bit tetchy when people bring it up, if someone happens to remember.
  • Woody drinks a murky booze that very few people are quite sure what is when he bartends. When asked, he just says, "Somethin' special." Out of the few guests in the Dregs that have requested a shot, most have ended up vomiting almost instantly, spitting it out on the top of the bar, or clutching their throat and gasping for air.
  • Woody knows how to find Waldo, but he ain't tellin'.
