Things to Do

  • Sorting Categories: As you see on the logs, I try it already with the Characters. My Idea:
Characters HOLY WOW...okay FINALLY done on the Active/Vs Inactive. --Koraline 23:36, 6 May 2011 (CDT)
Huzzah!! Excellent work. --Otrere 20:24, 7 May 2011 (CDT)
Working on sorting the specilizations now...starting with A.--Koraline 11:46, 13 June 2011 (CDT)
  • Sorting Companies
  • Updating Skill requirements (is it 40 or 30...or all of these skills needed? Or just one? It was brought up by a New Player that they don't match in game files.)
I've made some updates on that page to try and clarify things. It is a tricky spot. I hope that helps. --Otrere 21:55, 18 February 2011 (CST)
  • etc.
  • Check out the Category Tree to use as a guide for this kind of work. Improvements are welcome. --Otrere 21:42, 21 February 2011 (CST)

Deleting Pages

Procedure: Wiki users can add the {{Delete}} template to any unwanted page, category, etc, to invite discussion about whether that should be removed from the wiki. The {{Delete_Talk}} template should also be added to the corresponding talk page. Pages marked with these templates show up in the Marked For Deletion category. If a consensus is reached, staff will review it for deletion. All page deletions on the wiki should be approved by game staff.

I approve of this idea. --River 9:23pm PST, 19 February 2011
I'm glad you approve. It seems to be off to a great start. :) --Otrere 23:38, 19 February 2011 (CST)

Discussion About the Deletion Process

NOTE FROM STAFF: Do NOT delete old pages without consulting Serenity Mush staff first.
Some of these pages might be old, but most still contain relevant information. Do not
delete anything that doesn't belong to you without consulting Serenity Mush staff
first. -- River 11:59pm, 16 February, 2011 (PST)
Note 2 from Staff: Please remember to add a link on discussion pages back to this page.

One common way that wikis work on this is to have a "Marked for Deletion" template - that automatically puts things into a TBD-type of category, and lists some guidelines ("this page has been marked for deletion, discuss it on the talk page, if there is a consensus it could be removed" - and, for us - "all page deletions need game staff approval."). Do we want such a template here? Are we at the point of needing one? --Otrere 19:34, 17 February 2011 (CST)

I talked to River and my guidelines for deletion go like this: If Content has been removed from the page by the player or staff LONG ago (like more than a year) I will delete the page If the page was wiped, I will always put in the deletion comment why I deleted it and if there is any deletion mistake it can always be rolled back but I've talked with River and she knows my boundaries on deletion) If the page was placed and never used LONG ago, I will check the player. If the player is no longer in game, banned, etc...IE not coming back...I will delete the page. Common sensical stuff. Things I wont delete are- Players pages that have content...even if they are banned players, they have information that links to other characters that still play and are part of their history...so it's common sense they go to inactive. Pages such as +help +wield. Sure, we dont use this command and that's al the page says...but it directs you to the command we do use. That's helpful.

The template you guys suggested will be GREAT for all other pages and such. I will never delete anything that is questionable. I will always defer to staff and this template discussion idea. GREAT idea...and love you both! Wiki is getting organized and I heart it throughly!!-Added by Kori 12:05 EST Feb 18, 2011 (I dont know how to do timestamp, sorry)

That plan of approach sounds good to me. :) BTW, the signature code is four tildes, usually after a dash or two. (--~~~~) --Otrere 21:24, 18 February 2011 (CST)
Poke me with a list of things you want to delete *before* you delete them *unless* they're not related to this game or are code/commands we no longer use. --River 09:03, 19 February 2011 (PST)

I've updated the {{Delete}} template and added another - {{Delete_Talk}} - which will automatically add a link back here, making that easy. See the new "Procedure" section above. --Otrere 19:45, 19 February 2011 (CST)
